Smith makes impressive European Tour debut
London, UK- June 10, 2014 - MB Partners Client, Jordan Smith played his first European Tour event in Austria last week with an impressive finish just outside the top 30.
This provided the highly rated amateur his first taste of competing alongside the worlds best players, which included 2012 European Ryder Cup captain Jose-Maria Olazabel, Miguel Angel Jimenez and numerous European tour winners.
Smith embraced the challenge to compete amongst his professional peers: “My management company got me an invite and you just have to take these things when you can. This has given me some much needed experience for when I decide to turn to pro in the near future, and will hopefully help me play even better in the amateur competitions this summer. I now have no doubt that I can compete in the pro ranks’’
The 21-year-old Derry Hill amateur comfortably made the cut with rounds of 71 72 then rounded off the week with three birdies in his final 18 holes at the Diamond Country Club. to finish with a 71 leaving him 32nd overall. The Bowood ace also competed alongside established pros recently at the European qualifying event for this month’s US Open ahead of a summer campaign in which he is aiming for the top amateur prizes.
Smith will go for glory in the British Amateur Championship in Northern Ireland later this month.
