Jordan wins PGA EuroPro Tour Tournament
Jordan celebrated victory today, winning the PDC Open at Chart Hills Golf Club in Ashford, Kent, one of the tournaments on the PGA EuroPro Tour. 22-year-old Jordan shot three excellent rounds to claim the winners trophy, finishing -14 under after three days of play.
With a starting field of 168 players, Jordan opened the week with a four under par score of 68 aided by 5 birdies over the course of the 18 holes and continued the momentum with another -4 with 6 birdies for his second round of play, closing out the week with a final round of 66, six-under-par again, to bring his total score to 202, three strokes ahead of his nearest challenger.
With just this and five more events to be played prior to the season-ending Tour Championship, money earned could prove decisive on the Race To Desert Springs, from which the top five at the end of the year earn Challenge Tour cards for 2016. After his outstanding week at Chart Hills Jordan now lies eighth in the Championship.
The Nike Golfer said of his victory, “Wow, what a week! It’s great to be finishing on top of the leaderboard, with three good rounds and the consistency I needed to beat some tough opposition. It feels fantastic to be holding the trophy after such a highly competitive week. I really needed this breakthrough win and my thanks go to Nike, Gratte Brothers and MB Partners for their support.”
The PDC Open is a 54-hole strokeplay event with a cut to the leading 50 players plus ties to be made after 36 holes. The winner takes home £10,000 from a £50,000 prize fund.
Friday’s final round has been filmed for a two-hour highlights package which will air on Sky Sports on Tuesday, August 11.
